e-Visa for Turkey information
The Turkey e-Visa is an electronic visa, introduced on 17 April 2013 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, that allows foreign nationals to apply for their visa online without visiting the Turkish Embassy/Consulate.
Eligible travelers can apply for the Turkish visa online having only a valid passport, access to any online payment method, and adigital photo of the applicant’s face. Completing the application process takes only minutes and can be fully done from home.
The Turkey e-Visa is available as a single entry visa – for a 30-day stay and amultiple entry visa – for a 90-day stay. Both types stay valid for 90 days from the date of issue.
Turkish e-Visa processing time can take up to 3 business days or less, with an average of just 19 hours!
Travelers must enter Turkey within one month from the date of issue of the e-Visa and not later than 90 days after the issue date.
Important Update!
Please note! From March 2021, all travelers need a special Form for Entry to Turkey. The newly introduced health form must be presented along with a valid Turkey e-Visa upon arrival.
The Entry Form was introduced due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic to help reduce the virus spread.
Don’t forget to apply for the Entry Form online within 72 hours prior to the planned departure date.
There are two types of the Turkey e-Visa that we can distinguish. The applicant’s nationality decides on which type they are eligible for. There is a:
- single-entry permit for a 30-day stay
- multiple-entry permit for a 90-day stay
No matter what your nationality is, the online Turkey visa is issued for purposes of tourism or business only. All other purposes of travel (including working for a Turkish company) require a traditional Embassy visa.
Another feature that all electronic visa types have in common is the requirement for each applicant to have a passport that will stay valid for no less than 6 months from the date of arrival in Turkey.

e-Visa is not needed for travelers who enter Turkey only to transit through to another destination. As long as you do not plan to leave the transit zone within the Turkish airport while waiting for your connecting flight, a passport is the only travel document needed.
Please note that travelers who wish to leave the transit zone of the airport must obtain an electronic visa in advance, and carry the document with them at the time of entering Turkey. For information on how to obtain this entry permit, see “Turkey e-Visa application form,” above.
All online visa holders who travel to Turkey must carry two documents with them at the time of entry:
- a valid passport
- a printed copy of the approved e-Visa
You will be asked to present each document to the Turkish customs officials, who will examine them before welcoming you into the country.
